This site is to allow a look at the lighthouses of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida located along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. I have included some information about the lighthouses and also directions for getting to where you can see the lights. The information has been taken from various sources, but many of the facts are from the Inventory of Historic Light Stations by the National Park Service and Lighthouses, Lightships, and the Gulf of Mexico by David L. Cipra.

While they are not many in number, when compared to many areas of the country, they are part of the proud heritage of America's lighthouse service.  I will be adding additional lighthouses to the site as time and travel permit me to do so.

*****SPECIAL NOTE - While doing an upgrade on the servers, all the information that I had stored offsite, that was not already posted to this website, was lost. Sadly, this included the contact information for many valued individuals that have graciously provided information and photos, in some instances. If any of these individuals see this note, please contact me so that I can rebuild the database of information. I must confess that I was so discouraged for a while that I failed to keep updated information. Over the course of the next few weeks I will be adding some new photos taken in April of 2008.*****

Included are some pages that have photos and histories about lighthouses that no longer exist, such as Brazos River and Redfish Bar Cut lighthouses. While I have found photos of some of these lighthouses, if anyone has photos of any of the old Gulf Coast Lighthouses that no longer exist, and would be willing to let me use them on this site, please contact me.
